It is with profound sorrow that we share the passing of Mandy Wittenberg of Minnesota, whose vibrant spirit and kind heart left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Mandy passed away today, just weeks after the heartbreaking loss of her best friend and special partner, Tanner Grove, 36, of Chicago, IL, formerly of Mitchell, SD, who died by suicide on May 20, 2025.
The weight of losing Tanner so recently makes Mandyโs passing all the more devastating for her family, friends, and community. Together, their story is one of deep connection, love, and lossโa reminder of both the fragility and the beauty of life.
Mandy was widely known for her kindness, resilience, and infectious energy. She had a rare gift for making others feel seen, valued, and appreciated. Whether through her laughter, her words of encouragement, or her willingness to step in when someone needed help, she created moments of warmth and belonging everywhere she went.
Her friends and family remember her as someone who radiated positivity, who carried herself with grace even in the face of lifeโs hardships, and who lived each day with an open heart. She had an incredible ability to brighten a room and to remind people of the good in themselves and in the world.
Raised in Minnesota, Mandy carried with her a deep sense of community and loyalty. Her life was built around family, friendships, and service to others. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand, and her caring nature extended beyond her immediate circle to anyone who crossed her path.
Her death leaves a void that words cannot fill. Yet, her legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely, the joy she spread, and the countless lives she touched. For those grieving both Mandy and Tanner, the loss feels immeasurableโbut their memory will continue to inspire compassion, courage, and the reminder to cherish the bonds that connect us.
As family and friends navigate this time of profound grief, they take solace in knowing that Mandyโs light will continue to shine through the stories, laughter, and love she leaves behind.
Rest peacefully, Mandy. Your spirit, like Tannerโs, will never be forgotten.
