Johnny Marquez – The man killed during an attempted carjacking in South Los Angeles over the weekend has been identified by family as Johnny Marquez. The deadly incident occurred Saturday evening in an alley near the 8000 block of South Hooper Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Police dispatchers received reports of gunshot victims around 9:20 p.m. Responding officers arrived to find two men who had been shot during the confrontation. Investigators say the situation began when Marquez and his son heard their car alarm sounding from the alley. When they went to check on it, they discovered three suspects attempting to steal their vehicle.

As the father and son confronted the suspects, a fourth individual, who had been positioned at the south entrance of the alley, opened fire. Both Marquez and his son were struck. The fundraiser has already drawn support from community members, friends, and strangers alike, all moved by the tragic circumstances of Marquez’s death. The page highlights his generosity and peaceful nature, describing him as someone who lived to help others and cherished his family above all.

Meanwhile, the LAPD continues its investigation into the case. Authorities have not yet released details about the suspects involved or whether any arrests have been made. Detectives are reviewing evidence and gathering information to identify those responsible.
