A fatal crash involving two vehicles occurred on Interstate 40 in Catawba County, North Carolina, on Friday evening, resulting in the death of a young woman and minor injuries to four others. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported that the collision happened at approximately 7 p.m. on the westbound side of I-40. The crash took place near a rest area located between the Oxford Street and Oxford School Road exits .

The Subaru was being driven by a 41-year-old whose name has not been released. That driver, along with three passengers in the vehicle, suffered only minor injuries as a result of the impact.
